A few prevalent rock super groups have formed in recent years (EG – The Dead Weather, Them Crooked Vultures) and some, not so successful (The Damned Things, Burning Empires), Atoms for Peace is one the most highly anticipated conglomerates of influential music artists to date. It consists of:

  • Thom Yorke (Lead Vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards) – Radiohead
  • Michael “Flea” Balzary (bass guitar) – Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane’s Addiction (Former)
  • Nigel Godrich (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals) – Recording Engineer, Record Producer for artists such as Radiohead, Natalie Imbruglia, REM, Beck, Travis, Air
  • Mauro Refosco (percussion) – Forro in the Dark
  • Joey Waronker (drums) – Walt Mink, Ima Robot

The first time Atoms for Peace tickets went on sale, all of Thom Yorke’s solo album The Eraser and the b-side Paperbag Writer was played to a sold out audience at the Echoplex in Los Angeles, CA. The nameless band would then change their name to Thom Yorke???? for their Coachella 2010 performance – causing fans to wonder when Thom Yorke tickets would go on sale again for individual dates. Yorke would finally go on to announce the band’s official name, Atoms for Peace” just weeks before Atoms for Peace tickets would go on sale for a mini tour in April 2010. The name derives from a 1953 speech made by Dwight D. Eisenhower covering the distribution of nuclear technology to institutions across the United States in 1953.

The band will embark on an eight day tour with opener Flying Lotus in New York, Boston, Chicago, Oakland Santa Barbara and Coachella in Indio, CA. For more information on the Atoms for Peace schedule, return to the homepage.
